A man who laced treats with tranquilliser and distributed them to children at a youth camp in Leicestershire has admitted sexual crimes against two boys aged nine and 10.
The defendant was arrested after eight minors and one adult fell ill at Stathern Lodge in July.
The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he refused to admit one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was against a young boy.
The accused was kept in jail ahead of a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
Mary Prior KC, handling the case, outlined the defendant's actions to the court.
She said his those affected were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer program which he ran.
The defendant conducted a "treat game" with the children, the prosecutor stated, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were settling down and ask them to consume candy "rapidly".
She told the court the man had played this game with the children "repeatedly", and minors had previously fallen ill the next day.
She said the defendant had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his stepchild had worries in summer 2025.
The prosecutor stated further: "In the summer" his family member had worries about the situation, for good reason.
"They resolved" to have a look in the man's possessions."
The legal counsel explained materials including infant oil, Vaseline and injection devices were found, and his stepson alerted the law enforcement about his suspicions.
She stated the man proceeded to conduct the "candy game" with six children that time - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the following morning.
"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that point," she added.
The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.
The prosecutor said the children were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so the stepson called the authorities again.
She said the defendant then played the "treat game" in a space of five youngsters.
